As we fill our website with new 3D resources, please bear with us. In the meantime, check out this 3D file of an artistic representation of a dinosaur that looks quite a bit like our state dinosaur, although the real one probably had feathers. (sort of like a mix of a Podokesaurus and Coelophysis but with a wider head). Please wait a short while for the file to load:
If you’d like to download this original (public domain) 3D file, please visit this site.
For 3D printing, get this file. We have converted this file into an STL for those of you who would like to 3D-print and paint it. When printed, it should look like this:
Please feel free to download our printable dinosaur file here PODOKE PRINTABLE STL FILE (keep in mind that this is not exactly how a Podokesaurus would have looked, but it’s pretty close). If you do print one out and paint it up (we suggest non-toxic acrylic paints) PLEASE take a pic and send it to us and we’ll be sure to post it.
Coelophysis bauri
A very close relative of the Podokesaurus was the Coelophysis. The main concern we have at the moment about Podokesaurus, is that while we did have a lot of the skeleton, we never found the head. So, while we can infer some things about what its head looked like, we don’t know for sure. One thing we can do is to compare the Podokesaurus to other known species, for which we do have a skull, like the Coelophysis bauri. If you’d like to see one of the best preserved complete Coelophysis bauri skeletons out there, click here:
